FAQs

FAQs

  • 1. What makes Glyph Production products heirloom quality?

Each of our items is handmade using the finest eco-friendly materials. We combine traditional craftsmanship with durable materials to create tools and home goods built to last — and be passed down.

  • 2. How should I care for my carbon steel knife?

Carbon steel needs a bit of care to stay at its best. Hand wash and dry immediately after use, oil the blade occasionally, and avoid leaving it wet. Over time, it will develop a natural patina that adds character and protection. You can view our Carbon Steel Knife Care Guide (below.)

  • 3. Are your materials really reclaimed or recycled?

Yes! Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We carefully source salvaged Canadian hardwoods, recycled yarn, and organic catnip to reduce waste, minimize our footprint, and craft with the planet in mind.

  • 4. Can I customize my knife or cutting board?

Yes — we offer custom options for an additional fee. Whether you're after a specific wood type, resin colour, or personalized dimensions, we’re happy to work with you to create something unique. Just reach out to get started.

  • 5. Do you ship outside of Canada?

We do! We ship worldwide, and all items are securely packaged to ensure they arrive safely. Shipping rates and delivery times vary by location and will be calculated at checkout.

  • 6. What’s your return policy?

Due to the handmade and small-batch nature of our products, we only accept returns for damaged or defective items. That said, if something’s not right, please contact us — we’re committed to making it right.

Carbon Steel Knife Care Guide

To keep your Glyph Productions knife sharp, beautiful, and built for generations.

1. Wash by Hand Only

Always wash your knife by hand with warm water and mild soap immediately after use. Never put it in the dishwasher — high heat, harsh detergents, and water exposure can damage both the blade and the handle.

2. Dry Immediately

Carbon steel is reactive, so moisture is the enemy. After washing, dry your knife thoroughly with a clean cloth right away to prevent rust or staining.

3. Oil the Blade

Lightly oil the blade with food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil after cleaning, especially if the knife will be stored for a while. This helps prevent oxidation and keeps the steel in top condition.

4. Expect a Patina

Your knife will naturally darken and develop a unique patina with use — this is normal and even desirable. The patina helps protect the blade and tells the story of your knife’s use over time.

5. Store Safely

Protect the edge (and your fingers) by storing your knife in a knife block, sheath, or on a magnetic strip. Avoid tossing it in drawers where it can get damaged or cause injury.

6. Sharpen Regularly

Carbon steel takes a sharp edge beautifully — and it deserves regular honing and occasional sharpening. Use a honing rod for maintenance and a whetstone or professional sharpening when needed.
